He also wanted to know if his books were successful only because he had achieved some level of fame; that is, were they best-sellers because they were high-quality books or only because people wanted to read the latest Stephen King? So King invented the alter-ego of Richard Bachman and released four works under that pseudonym: Rage (1977), The Long Walk (1979), Roadwork (1981), and The Running Man (1982) before he was discovered. Imagine being in the heat of war, a place where trust is needed most. Imagine, however, that in the heat of war you cannot trust your fellow soldier because of personal tensions within the unit. It was this problem that the policy known as â€Å"Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell† was designed to avoid, the tension caused between soldiers when homosexuals are serving openly. Without this policy, homosexuals serving openly could create tension that interferes with the military’s effectiveness. While it may not be obvious at first, the policy of â€Å"Don’t Ask Don’t Tell† actually supports the both values of the military and the rights of homosexuals. The â€Å"Winchell Case† is a good example of what could happen if an open policy is enacted (Walke). In 1999, Private Barry Winchell was killed by another soldier. An investigation revealed that Winchell’s fellow officers had discovered he was homosexual and had been harassing him for months before the fatal assault. If Winchell’s superiors had followed the current policy, than he would have been removed from the unit and might have escaped unharmed (Walke). Othello is too trusting of â€Å"honest† Iago and holds too little appreciation for himself, an easy prey to insecurities. Othello’s self confidence dwindles are he considers himself an old black man, not enticing enough for a young wife of the upper class and so it’s easy to believe that she would betray him. Othello becomes wild with jealousy and self-doubt at the false realization that Cassio must be sleeping with Desdemona. Persuading Othello was a difficult and time consuming effort, by the final scene we see Othello give into the looming â€Å"evidence† and smother his wife but this act is surely not from simple impulse of evil. Othello was a puppet in Iago’s hands and had been ignorant of his wife’s genuine love but enforced his ideal of justice upon himself through suicide, showing his remorse. Ultimately it becomes evident that Othello was a man of reckless passion who only wished to love and be loved in a sensible way, which is, were his atrocious actions originate from.
